Janice Elaine Spangler

Janice Elaine Spangler, age 80, of Rising Sun, MD formerly of Bear, DE passed away peacefully at home on October 23, 2026.

Born in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Arlene (Renninger) and Gerald Wray. She married her husband and partner of 46 years, William Herbert Spangler, on November 24th, 1963 in Wilmington, DE. She was a longtime member of the Millcreek Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arlene and Gerald Wray; her husband, William Spangler; her son, Brian Keith Spangler; and her brother, Nelson Wray.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Doug Hite; her brothers, Delmar Wray, Jeff Wray, Mark Wray, Lynn Wray, and Tony Wray; her sisters, Deb Sherwood, Rita Kuhn, Beth Eward, and Fran Majestic; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family would like to thank all of the Rising Sun First Responders who rushed to Janice’s aid on October 23rd, especially Officer Tanney for his kindness.

Funeral services will be held privately.
