Janet M. Janocha of Newark, passed away suddenly at home on July 4, 2023 with her two sons by her side.

Born on April 24, 1934, in Sayreville, NJ, to Arthur and Louise Snyder; her name was inspired by then-famous actress Janet Gaynor. She was a graduate of Sayreville High School and was employed as a secretary at Rutgers University, where she recalled seeing theoretical physicist Albert Einstein on campus. She married Air Force veteran and mechanical engineer Paul F. Janocha in January 1954 at the First Presbyterian Church in New Brunswick, NJ. and first lived in Paoli, PA before they built their first home in West Chester, PA in 1955. Janet maintained a secretarial position at Burroughs Corporation until their first son William was born in 1959, followed by David in 1962. Paul's employment at E.I. DuPont de Nemours necessitated a move to Newark in 1967, where they again constructed a new home in North Star.

A homemaker, she desired a college degree and attended part time until earning a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from the University of Delaware in 1980. Resumption of employment began in sales, followed by realtor positions at B. Gary Scott, Weichert, Realtors and Prudential Fox & Roach until her husband required medical care in 2003. She continued education at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and enjoyed yoga, reading books available at the Hockessin Public Library and was a regular parishioner and served as a deacon at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church.

Besides her children, her greatest love was for the wellbeing of her three grandchildren, Christopher, Jacquelyn and Bryan. Ever the provider, delicious wholesome meals were regularly served to her family, who savored her bountiful spreads and baking that included holiday sugar cookies, oatmeal chocolate peanut butter clusters and other delights. She was adept at swimming sidestroke, played tennis, was an avid tennis and ice skating fan and of all Philadelphia sports teams. Go Phillies! Janet loved the Delaware shore's Rehoboth and Bethany beaches.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Louise Snyder, and her husband of 52 years, Paul. Janet will be dearly missed by her sons William (Mary), David (Deborah) and grandchildren Christopher, Jacquelyn and Bryan Janocha. She is also survived by her brother Arthur, niece Jane, nephew Todd and their children.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing and service at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 500 McKennan's Church Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Thursday, July 13th at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Red Clay Creek Church Cemetery followed by luncheon.
