Janet L. Hughes, age 80, of Newark, DE passed away at her home on November 30, 2022.

Born in Wilkes Barre, PA, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Lesko) and Jacob Forenski. Janet was a member of the first graduating class of Dickinson High School. She was a homemaker for her children and loved being around her family. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her close family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Janet was predeceased by her brothers, Lt. Robert Forenski and James "Jim" Forenski; and her grandson, Gunner.

Janet is survived by her husband of 60 years, Lonnie Hughes; daughter Carolyn Kay Hughes; son, Rodney Allen Hughes and his wife, Missy; grandchildren, Jessie Allen Hughes (Amber), Brittane Lauren Hughes (Alex); great grandson, Tyler; sisters-in-laws, Linda and Virginia Forenski; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday December 6th, 2022, at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808 from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. with graveside services to follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
