James F. Schofield, Sr. 89 of Wilmington passed away at home on Monday, September 9, 2024 surrounded by his family.

Jim was born in Wilmington, the son of the late Sabina (Clark) and Edward Schofield. He was a graduate of St. Ann's School and Salesianum School, Class of 1952. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. As a plumber by trade, he worked for Reskovitz Plumbing for over 30 years and the DuPont Company for over 15 years before retiring in 2005. Jim was a member of the Irish Culture Club and served as president for two terms. He also belonged to the Defiance Athletic Club and was a member of St. Matthew's Church for over 66 years. He enjoyed golfing and surf fishing.

In addition to his parents, Jim is predeceased by his brothers Edward, Joseph and Francis "Zeke"; his sisters Helen Bogart, Alice Monagle, Patricia Bennett and Mary Davis; his sons-in-law, Dennis Kane and Tim Solinger.

Jim is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jane (Taggart) Schofield; his children and their spouses, Teresa Duricek (Pokey) of Millsboro, James F. Schofield, Jr. (Patty) of Lewes DE, Anne Ewasko (Tommy) of Wilmington, Marie Kane of Wilmington and Christine Solinger of Albia, IA; his grandchildren, Teresa, Danny, Casey, Amanda, Katie, Megan, Tyler, and Mollie; his great-grandchildren, Cecilee, Juelian, Conor, Annika, Dominic, Brayden, Tobias, Alaina, and Isabella; his brother, Paul Schofield of Wilmington and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit at St. Matthews Church, 901 E. Newport Pike, Wilmington, DE on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Salesianum School, 1801 N. Broom Street, Wilmington, DE 19802.
