James M. O'Donnell Sr., age 69, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

James was born in Wilmington, son of the late Mary (Sprogell) and John O'Donnell Sr. James graduated from Mount Pleasant high school, class of 1975. Married the love of his life Janet (Wahl) in 1981, and went on to work for the family business, William D. Shellady, before eventually retiring as a truck driver. James was a very enthusiastic sports fan and loved cheering on his beloved Philadelphia teams. In his free time, James enjoyed watching tv and snacking on his favorite things. He also enjoyed being the biggest personality in the room while spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents James was also predeceased by his loving wife, Janet Lee O'Donnell (Wahl) in 2023; and brothers, Joseph and Vincent O'Donnell.

James is survived by his children, Kelly, James (Brienna) and Megan O'Donnell; grandchildren, Aaliyah, Jose, and Colin; brother, John O'Donnell; and a host of in laws, nieces, and nephews whom he all loved.

A visitation for James will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where friends and family may view from 11am to 12:30pm; with a memorial service following at 12:30pm. Burial will be held privately.
