James C. Carpenter, age 84, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at his residence on May 13, 2023.

Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Florence (Cooney) and William Carpenter. He graduated from Wilmington High School and proudly served his country in the Air Force while stationed in Germany during the Korean War. James owned and operated James Window Cleaning until he retired in 2000 after 30 years.

He was a Life Member of VFW Post #3257, holding positions as Junior Vice, Surgeon and Poppy Chair. James was also a member of the American Legion Durney Post.

James is survived by his longtime companion, Jeanette Blizzard; his children Melody Brown, Patrick Blizzard, Kenneth Happekotte and Sueann Carpenter; grandchildren Edward and Jamie Grabinski, Riane Brown, Charlotte Foote, Patrick Blizzard Jr, Hannah Blizzard; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A chapel service will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at 10AM at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.
