James A Breslin, age 82 of New Castle, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 24, 2015. Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Clara J (Dege) and James A Breslin, Sr. James (Jim) was a respected self-employed carpenter/contractor. He began working at a young age, and continued until a few weeks before his death. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years Jean (Rickards) Breslin in December 2006. He will be dearly missed by his daughters Jean Barnett and her husband Wayne of Delaware City, and Margaret Breslin of Elsmere: his son Christopher Breslin, and his wife Ruby of New Castle: 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters Sara Lanouette and Elizabeth Whitfield, 3 brothers, William, Charles, and Thomas Breslin. He is predeceased by his two brothers Peter and Patrick Breslin. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday December 30th at 11am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 901 E Newport Pike, Wilmington, DE 19804 where family will receive friends after 10 am. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetary, Wilmington, DE. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to St Jude Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950.
