Jacqueline Jeanenne Shaw, age 92 died peacefully at home in Newark DE on July 16, 2021. Jackie was born in Welch WV. After graduating from Welch High School, Jackie attended Berea College in KY for two years and graduated from Ohio State University, where she received her Bachelor Degree in Interior Design. She excelled in swimming, art, dancing, & singing. She was a lifeguard during her college years and a singer in a band during her early 20s. On the day of her college graduation, Jackie moved from WV to Tampa FL. While residing for almost 50 years in FL, Jackie volunteered at a hospital in Tampa, sold real estate, was an administrative assistant in several companies, and served for many years as President of the Animal Protection League in Tampa. Jackie dedicated much of her adult life to rescuing & adopting many dogs & cats. Although she did not have children of her own, Jackie's many animal companions were her beloved "fur babies". Upon her retirement at age 70 Ms. Shaw relocated from FL to DE to be near her sister. Jackie very much enjoyed residing in DE. She especially enjoyed attending music concerts & live theatre events; and she made many close friends in the Newark DE area. Jacqueline was predeceased by her parents Blanche & Eugene Shaw, her brother Gene Shaw, her brother-in-law Ray Gordon, and her nephews Terry Shaw & Danny McPeake. She is survived by her sister Audrey Gordon, her niece/caregiver Cara McPeake, her niece's son Jeffrey McPeake, Jeff's wife Pauline McPeake, and Jeff & Pauline's daughter Olivia Elle McPeake. She is also survived by several other relatives & by many wonderful friends. Ms. Shaw's family wants to sincerely thank Heartland Hospice for their extreme kindness & compassionate care of Jackie during the final several months of her life. Burial will be held privately at the Head of Christiana Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Newark DE.
