Obituary

Jacqueline Irene Desper, age 89, formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully in Chestertown, MD on November 10th, 2024.

Jackie was born in Chester, PA in 1935. Jackie spent over 35 years working as the beloved florist at Janssen's Market in Greenville, Delaware. Jackie loved her job where she used her creativity to create some of the most beautiful flower arrangements for her customers, many of which who became friends. She loved the holiday seasons and spending time with close family and friends, especially at Christmas. She brought the spirit of Christmas alive both at work and at home, decorating hundreds of festive wreaths and trees for others to enjoy.  Jackie also loved collecting unique pieces of furniture, especially antique furniture, and enjoyed decorating her home. As a past time, she would visit various casinos throughout the tristate area with family and friends trying her luck at the slots and searching for the best crabcakes around.

Jacqueline is predeceased by her mother, Edna Wanzel and her husband, Joseph J. Desper. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Joseph J. Jr. and Susan Desper, Thomas Sr. and Kimberly Desper, George Desper, Sr., and Mary and Ronald Uscenski; her grandchildren, Jacqueline Bell (Samuel), Dean Bloodsworth (Amy), Jenna Bloodsworth, Samantha Poole (Ryan), Thomas Desper, Jr., Danielle DeCarlo (Michael), Mary Collins, George Desper, Jr., Brittany Santiago(Christian); her great grandchildren, Christina, Joseph, Bryan, Deven, Barrett, Briana, Steven, John, Scotty, Trey, Grayson, Kylie, Mia, Lilliana, Michael, Jared, Jeremy, Jaxson, Justin, Natalia, Juliana, Layana, and Alecia; and her brother, John Wanzel.

Donattions can be made in Jacqueline's name to Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Rd, Newark, DE 19713.

Graveside services will be held privately for the family at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Hockessin, DE.
