Age 93, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at Christiana Hospital in the early morning of Saturday, September 17, 2022.

Irene was born on April 13, 1929, in Wilmington to Francis Walter and Mary (Lockerman) Hagee.  She was a graduate of Wilmington High School, and remained lifelong friends with several of her classmates, aka "The Golden Girls".

Irene loved traveling with her husband, Joseph Andrew Dewson Sr., playing golf, watching the Phillies and 76er's, and spending summers in Brigantine, N.J.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Joe, and one son, Richard. She will be deeply missed by her sister, Gladys (Sugar) Murphy and her three remaining sons Joe (Teri) Jim (Melinda) Jack (Eunee), seven grandchildren, and two great granddaughters.

Friends are invited on Tuesday, September 27, to the viewing at 11:00 am followed by a short service at 12pm noon at Mealey Funeral Home at 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.
