Imojean Bennett "Jean"

Imojean Bennett, “Jean”, age 89 of Wilmington, DE passed away on July 9, 2026. Born in Rosemont, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Thelma (Marple) and Carl Bailey. After relocating to Delaware, she worked in administration at NKS Distributors for 25 years, until her retirement. Jean and her husband were longtime members of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #1 and the Delaware Association of Police. She was very active in politics throughout her life and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Jean was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family. Jean was known for her sense of humor and compassion towards everyone.

In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, William C. Bennett; and siblings, Linda Bailey, Don Bailey, and Shirley Bobela. She is survived by her children and their spouses, William R. “Rick” Bennett, Sherry Steidle (Chip), and Jeanne Campbell (Greg); her grandchildren, Christina and William Richard Bennett, Jr., Trey, Bennett, and Bailey Steidle, Bryan (Brie), Brett, and Molly Campbell; her 7 great grandchildren; and her siblings, Robert Bailey and Elladean George.

A visitation will be held at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808 from 9 A.M. to 9:45 A.M. on Friday July 17th. A graveside service will follow at 10:15 A.M. at Silverbrook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Pike, Wilmington, DE 19805.
