Obituary

Howard "Mick" Branum, age 75 of Wilmington De, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 13th, 2025.

Howard was born in Charleston, WV to his late mother and father Inez and Howard Branum. During his adolescent years, Howard and his family moved to Wilmington Delaware where he attended Brown Technical High School. On August 19th, 1967, during a youth group bus trip to Wildwood, Howard met the love of his life Barbara Nacchia. After graduating high school, he went on to work as a Pipefitter for the Local 74 eventually retiring after 30 years of service.

Howard had many passions and interests throughout his life. First and foremost, Howard was a die hard Philadelphia sports fan. Though he enjoyed following all four professional teams, his true fandom was for the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. Additionally, he also enjoyed American history, gardening, star gazing in Maryland, nature, Science Fiction (Star Trek) and taking trips to Old New Castle where he would enjoy sunsets with Barbara.

Though a quiet man, Howard was also known for his witty sense of humor. Many of us can remember him laughing at himself for the jokes that he had just told.

Above all, Howard's true passion was his family which included his daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He truly enjoyed spending time with them and making long lasting memories.

Along with his parents, Howard is predeceased by his siblings, Bob, Jeanie, Russell, Michael, and Johnny. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Barbara. His daughters and their spouses Deanna M Tomlinson (Michael), and Shannon L Hogate (Mark); grandchildren Ana Alisha Russell (Joe), Patrick Hogate, Giada Hogate, Liam Hogate, Jacob Tomlinson; and great grandchildren Ellie Marro, Gunnar Marro, and Parker Tomlinson; sister Linda; many nieces and nephews, and family friend Vicki Hand.
