Helen L. Saunders, 93 of Wilmington passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 12, 2023.

Helen was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Alice (Wisniewski) and Francis Lazarczyk. She was a graduate of Wilmington High School and worked there as a secretary for over 20 years. Helen was a member of St. John the Beloved Church and the Mid County Senior Center.  She was an avid bingo player and worker and enjoyed going to Delaware Park. Helen loved the beach at Ocean City and Lewes.

In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband, Charles T. Saunders in 2002 and her siblings, Francis Lazarczyk, Jr., Loretta Eller and Thomas Lazarczyk.

Helen will be dearly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and William Smith, III; her loving fiancé, Daniel Palese, III; her stepsons and their wives, Daniel Palese, IV and Karen of Elkton, MD and Mark and Alicia Palese of Wilmington; her grandchildren, Thomas Welker, Jr. of Burbank, CA, Amanda McDaniel of Myersville, MD, Daniel Palese, V of Northeast, MD and Ethan Palese of Wilmington, DE and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road on Tuesday morning, March 21, 2023 from 10 to 11 AM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM.  Burial will be in the Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Bear.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Accent Care Hospice, 220 Continental Dr Suite 407, Newark, DE 19713.
