Hans Thorval MacBain, of Wilmington, DE passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the age of 73.

He was born in Martinez, CA, son of the late Donald 'Zerr' and Jean MacBain. He received his degree from Cheney University of Pennsylvania. He was an engineer at Amtrak for over 30 years. He had a passion for sailing and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Juthathip Ruiz whom he married in 2019, his daughters Meghan of Bear, DE and Amanda of Lewes, DE. His two grandchildren, Hailey and Parker. His brothers Arthur, Donald, Edward, and Eric. His sisters Christine and Donna. Numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Hans is preceded in death by his loving wife Jane Bartsch in 2011, his brother Frederick, and his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 3P.M. to 4:30P.M. with Funeral services to begin at 4:30P.M. at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will be held privately.
