Gregory Poplos, age 72, of Avondale, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Greg was born in Wilmington, Delaware, on December 15, 1953, to the late Lillian (Catalina) and Charles M. Poplos. Greg was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, businessman, and friend. He was the beloved husband of Linda Poplos, with whom he shared many years of life and memories.
Greg was a hardworking and accomplished businessman who built and owned multiple businesses throughout his career, including trucking, manufacturing, truck repair, and an industrial park. He took great pride in his work and in the businesses he built.
Those who knew Greg will remember him for his unmistakable personality. He was funny, stubborn, and, at times, a little grumpy—but always in a way that made him uniquely Greg. He had strong opinions and wasn’t afraid to share them. He was a proud patriot, a devoted Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan, and a passionate fan of Fox News and Donald Trump. He also enjoyed poker, blackjack, and just about any card game where he could sit down, play his hand, and maybe talk a little trash along the way.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Charles M. Poplos and Lillian R. Poplos, and his brother, Ronald Poplos. He is survived by his wife, Linda Poplos; his daughter, Jessica Roberts, her husband, Dan, and their daughters, Lily and Lacey; and his son, Adam Poplos, his wife, Misty, and their sons, Adam II and Nathaniel. He is also survived by his brothers, Charles and Richard Poplos, and sisters, Karen and Arlene.
More than anything, Greg was a man who made his presence known. He leaves behind a family who will miss his humor, his stubbornness, his stories, and all the little things that made him who he was. His memory will live on through his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, and the many people whose lives he touched.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Visitation to begin at 10:00 a.m., with a ceremony to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial to be held privately.
Greg will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who loved him.
