Obituary

Godofredo Ebuen Nieves, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on August 20, 2024. Born in Sta. Cruz, Zambales, Philippines, he was the cherished son of the late Gualberto and Lourdes Nieves.

Godofredo attended Mary Christians Seminary for high school, where he developed a strong foundation in faith and discipline. After high school, he continued his education for three years at Vigan Major Seminary College, further deepening his spiritual education. He later completed a law degree at San Sebastian College in Manila, reflecting his dedication to education and justice. After his studies, he taught high school at Acoje Mines, Zambales, where he influenced many young lives with his knowledge and guidance.

He served honorably in the U.S. Navy, demonstrating bravery and dedication to his adopted country. After his military service, he continued to serve his community through his work at the U.S. Postal Service, retiring after many years of faithful service.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Maria Teresita Nieves, who passed away in 1998. Godofredo is survived by his wife, Elena (Sayo) Nieves. He leaves behind his cherished daughter, Marianne, and her husband Chris; his two beloved granddaughters, Katelyn and Abigail; and his son Gary, who was his pride and joy. He is also survived by his brother, Julito Nieves of Turnersville, NJ; his sister, Rebecca Dinoso of Temecula, California; and was preceded in death by his brother, Hildebrando Nieves, and his sister, Nenita Nieves Carlos.

Godofredo will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to his family, and unwavering faith. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Borromeo Church, 176 Stagecoach Rd, Sicklerville, NJ 08081, on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 10:00 AM. All who knew and loved Godofredo are invited to attend and celebrate his life.
