George Edward Donaldson, "Ed", age 81, of Newark, DE passed away on January 11, 2023.

Born in Hornell, NY, he was the son of the late Theresa (Leahy) and George Donaldson. He graduated from Hornell High School in Hornell, NY, where he was a member of the swim team and a guard on the St. Ignatius basketball team. He then graduated from Alfred University with his degree in Ceramic Engineering. Ed went on to work at Syracuse China and later for Pemco in Chicago and Pittsburgh. Ed settled in Delaware with his family and continued his professional career at Belzona as a sales representative and technician.  After retirement, Ed shared his talents in science and mathematics as a substitute teacher in Avon Grove. He was an avid sports fan with a passion for the Pittsburgh Steelers, University of Delaware football, and the Phillies, to name a few. Ed enjoyed spending his winters at his second home in Northport, Florida with his wife, Pat. Always the engineer, Ed enjoyed solving Sudoku, crossword and jigsaw puzzles in his free time. He especially enjoyed hiking and fishing with his sons and spending time on the golf course.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Joan Donaldson.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patricia VanLeuvan; his sons and their wives, Wesley Sr. and Ann Donaldson and Craig and Jessi Donaldson; his stepchildren and their spouses, Lisa and Larry Moser and Brian LeFevre and Julia Toone; his grandchildren, Wesley Jr., Hailey, Harper, Evan, Lauren, Noah, and Ben; his siblings and their spouses, Jim and Ruth Donaldson, Chris and Georgia Sadler, John and Rita Donaldson, and Bill and Mary Donlon.

A visitation will be held on Friday January 20th from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. with Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11 A.M. at Resurrection Parish, 3000 Videre Dr, Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery. For those unable to attend, a live webcast will be available below. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 1300 N Grant Ave #100, Wilmington, DE 19806.
