Frank Nieves, age 87, of Wilmington, DE passed away on March 17, 2019 at Christiana Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of the late Ramona (Pacheco) and Francisco Nieves. At the age of 2, he moved to the Bronx where he would eventually meet his wife, Eugenia. Frank worked as a New York City firefighter for 25 years. During his time as a firefighter, Frank received the Steuben Association Medal of Valor from Mayor John Lindsay of New York City for saving a woman from the fourth floor of a building. He was active in the firefighter's union, as well as the Audubon and Hispanic Societies.Frank is survived by his wife, Eugenia Nieves; his children and their spouses, Raymond and Sara Nieves, Rita Colgan, Roland Nieves, Rosie and Ernest Miner, Janet Gamez, Victor Francisco and Laurie DeJesus, and Susan and Richard Conway; his grandchildren, Jimmy, Melissa, Katie, Kalicia, Amanda, J.R., Christopher, Corinna, Stephanie, Justin, Philip, Nicholas, Savannah, and Evan; his great grandchildren, Olyvia, Hazel, Jackson and Dax, Robert, Austin, Zach, Crystal, Destiny, Dovea, Joseph, Riley, Mason, Davion, Sianni, Drake, Elizabeth, Maddison, Kennedy, Eva, and Denver; and his sisters, Aida Praino and Nancy Morgan, as well as a great number of beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Sunday March 24, 2019 at 2 P.M. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 40 Old Newark Road Newark, DE 19713.
