Frank Emory
Borleske
September 24, 1944 – January 31, 2026
Frank Emory Borleske, Professor Emeritus at Laurel Ridge Community College, passed away at Christiana Hospital in Newark DE on January 31, 2026, with his brother, Steve, at his side.
He was a teacher of mathematics for 55 years, one of the original faculty at Laurel Ridge, who touched the lives of 7,455 students during his tenure at the college.
Frank was born on September 24, 1944, in Baltimore Maryland, the son of the late Frank and Barbara Molnar Borleske. He graduated from Glenelg High School in 1962, then received his BS from the College of William and Mary and MS from Columbia University. His tenure at Lord Fairfax Community College began when its doors opened in 1970, continued through the renaming of the college and well-past normal retirement age, ending only when he became ill. Through the course of his career, he received numerous awards for his teaching, including the 2010 Distinguished Faculty Award.
In May of 2022, the Laurel Ridge Foundation established the Frank Borleske Scholarship, which will continue to honor his legacy of opening doors for students, as he did throughout his career. The family requests that memorial gifts be directed to The Laurel Ridge Foundation, 173 Skirmisher Lane, Middletown, VA 22645 in memory of Frank.
Frank is survived by his younger brother, Steve (Barb), nieces Julie Guarneri and Holly Gulli, nephew Andrew Borleske, and five great nieces and nephews.
Interment will be held privately at Red Clay Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with a Celebration of Life at Laurel Ridge Community College at a later date.
