Francis X. Twardus,"Franny/FX", 85 of Wilmington DE passed away unexpectedly on Saturday July 23, 2022.

Franny was born in Wilmington, the son of the late Florence (Jablonski) and Frank D. Twardus. He graduated from Salesianum School in 1955 and attended the University of Delaware. He served his country and state as Captain in the Army National Guard and was a former past president of the Christiana Lions Club. Franny was a loyal University of Delaware Blue Hen and a supporter and member of the Touchdown Club, a member of Cavaliers Country Club, St. Anthony of Padua and St. Mary of the Assumption Church.

Franny started his career as a vice president of Quigley, Inc., a local real estate firm for five (5) years. In 1965, he opened Francis X. Twardus Associates and 1968 Twardus-Beaver Insurance Agency, Inc. specializing in real estate and insurance and retired in 1995. In addition to his parents, Franny was predeceased by his brothers; Thomas, Eugene, Edward and Richard; and his sister-in-laws, Midge and Judy.

Franny is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret Ann (King) "Marty" Twardus; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Michael Hewes of Wilmington; his brother William Twardus of Hockessin; his sister-in-laws, Zina Twardus, and Mary Wherry and her husband, Robert of Hockessin; and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Road, Greenville DE at 11:00 a.m., where friends may visit after 10 a.m. Entombment will be at Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin DE  19707.
