Frances Senghaas (Dolly), age 92, passed away peacefully at Gilpin Hall Nursing Home on Wednesday July 20, 2022.
Dolly was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Mariarosa (Rizzo) and Gaetano Carroccia. She was a 1947 graduate of Wilmington High School. Dolly was a full-time homemaker. A devout Catholic, Dolly was a longtime parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church. She was a lifetime member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. She was the ultimate volunteer at St. Anthony of Padua Church. This included volunteering at both cafeterias of St. Anthony Grade School and Padua Academy. She was a dedicated volunteer for over 50 years for the annual Lenten Via Crucius Passion Play and the annual Italian Festival, as well as Bingo nights at Padua Academy. Dolly was an avid card shark. She loved her weekly card playing nights with both family and friends.
Dolly was predeceased by her husband, J. Paul Senghaas, Sr., daughter, Carol Senghaas, and son-in-law, Stephen Smith. She also predeceased by her siblings Dolores, Louis, Vincent & Joseph Carroccia, Rachela Russo, Ann Feil & Rose Ramsberger.
Dolly is survived by her children & their spouses, J. Paul, Jr. (Stephanie), John, and David (Cynthia) Senghaas, Johanna Smith, Dori (Bob) Logullo; her grandchildren, Dana Macy and Eli Senghaas; her sister, Letitia Cipolla, and sister-in-law Mary Jo Carroccia; and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.
The family are extremely thankful & would like to send our heartfelt gratitude to all of the nursing staff at Gilpin Hall Nursing Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday July 29th, 2022 at 11 A.M. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 9th and DuPont Streets. Calling hours will be held on Friday morning from 10-11 A.M. Burial will follow at Cathedral Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Gilpin Hall Nursing Home, 1101 Gilpin Avenue, Wilmington, DE. 19805. Online condolences may be made to mealeyfuneralhomes.com
