Evelyn Ann Pupillo, 78 of Newark passed away on April 24, 2015 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by her family.Evelyn was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Ann (Petangelo) and Frank Phillips.She was predeceased by her daughter, Francine Siminari, her grandson, Vincent Pupillo, her brother, William Phillips and her grandson"in-law, Eric Quinn.She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Mary Ann and Dave Keiser of Wilmington and Tina and Bob George of Bear; her sons, Anthony (Tony) Pupillo of Long Neck and Christopher Pupillo of Smryna; her grandchildren, Nicole, Andrew, Sara, Michelle, Ashley, Nicholas & Christi. Her great-grandchildren, Caden and Tyler; her sister, Frances Pyles and her brother, Brian Phillips and his fiance' Vienna, and many nieces and nephews.She has been described as "salt of the earth." Behind a stoic demeanor hid a quietly funny, kind, and generous person who was highly loyal to her friends and family. She gave of herself to help others, family members and strangers alike, to include animals. Her life could be described as ever changing. She had an amazing variety of professions, which included everything from driving a truck to creating an art school. She had a passion for creative endeavors and at various times in her life she worked at sculpting, painting, sewing, and her newest passion crocheting and growing bonsai trees. Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family and had a special place in her heart for her dog Lucy.For the last 5 years she was fortunate enough to be a resident of the Jeanne Jugan Residence run by the Little Sisters of the Poor. Their kindness, care and generosity, will always be remembered by her family and friends.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 11 AM at the Little Sisters of the Poor, Jeanne Jugan Residence, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713. Friends and family may call on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions be made in Evelyn's name to Little Sisters of the Poor at the above address.
