Eugene John Hrycak "Johnny Diamond", 63 of Wilmington went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 10, 2016.John was the son of the late Kateryna (Liba) and Jaroslaw Hrycak. He graduated from Newark High School and the University of Delaware. John worked for the DuPont Company at the Experimental Station and prior to that had owned and operated Linden Deli. He enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing and mostly spending time with his granddaughter, Ella Rose. He was a member of St Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Roman. Johnny will be dearly missed by his daughter, Anne Curtis and her husband, Steve of Hockessin; his granddaughter, Ella Rose; his brothers, and their wives, Ihor "Ace" and Karen, Myroslaw "Milton", all of Wilmington, Peter and Pam of Olney, MD and Michael and Lynda of Middletown; his sister and her husband, Mary Ann and Phil Storm of Wilmington; his sister-in-law, Ruth of Wilmington and numerous nieces and nephews.The family would like to extend special thanks to John's caregiver and niece, Kristen Otlowski, Dr. Charles Schneider and the staff of 6B at Christiana Hospital for all of their and support.Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Church, 800 Lea Blvd., Wilmington, DE 19802 on Friday morning at 10 AM. Friends may call at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM. Burial will be in St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, 4701 Ogletown-Stanton Road, Newark, DE 19713. Condolences may be sent to Mealeyfuneralhomes.com
