Elvira G. Attilio, age 92, of Woodbridge, NJ formerly of Wilmington, DE passed away on March 24, 2026. Born in Staten Island, NY, she was the daughter of the late Antoinette (Eadicicco) and Stanley Ciaramella. She graduated from St. Joseph Hill Academy. Vera was a loving wife and dedicated homemaker for her seven children. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Elvira held several jobs while raising her seven children. For many years she was a caregiver for Ellen Horrmann. Ellen was a descendant of the owners of the Historic Horrmann Castle on Staten Island. She also enjoyed her time working in the office of Dr. Spero Vozeolas as a medical secretary. In addition to her role as superwoman, she was very active in St. Mary's Parish in Rosebank. She ironed the Church linens, worked Bingo and assumed many volunteer positions. She moved to Wilmington, Delaware in 1997 and became a member of St. John the Beloved Parish. She attended mass daily and enjoyed the friendship of many wonderful parishioners. She became a Eucharist Minister and was a very active member of Parish Life. Elvira's many other talents included being skilled seamstress, a member of the Third Order (Secular Franciscan Order), a fantastic mom, loving wife, grandma, great grandma, nursing home volunteer, philosopher, cook and skilled bowler. She enjoyed cruising, traveling, golf, and loved playing the slots.
In addition to her parents, Vera is predeceased by her husband, Richard Attilio in 2012 and her brother, Anthony Ciaramella. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Mary Ann and Kevin Kelly of Bensalem, PA, Richard M. Betty Attilio of Bethlehem, PA, Elvira P. and George Johnson of Palm Bay, FL, Kathleen and John Parlamenti of Newark, DE, Gerard J. and Kathleen "Katy" Attilio of Madison, AL, Annette E. and Patrick Walsh of South Amboy, NJ and Frances B. Attilio of Bradley Beach, NJ; 17 grandchildren, David, Cheryl, Patricia, Michael, PJ, Nicholas, Mark, Kim, Kevin, Johnny, Joey, Constance, Barbara, Madyson, Chelsea, Patrick, Mary Ann; and 6 great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Anthony, Ava, Allie, Vincent, and Autumn.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday March 31, 2026, at from 10 A.M to 11 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11 A.M. at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 907 Milltown Road Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Joseph's Senior Home & Nursing Center in Elvira's name. 1-3 St. Joseph Terrace, Woodbridge, NJ 07095-2642.
