Ellen R. "Gene" Dolan, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, in her home, at the age of 99.

Born July 21, 1926, in Wilmington Delaware, Gene grew up in Hockessin Delaware.  She attended Conrad High School and graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Education.

Gene was a loyal member of both St. Joseph on the Brandywine, Wilmington and St. Paul Church in Stone Harbor, New Jersey, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years.

Gene was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Francis Dolan, and her daughter, Maribeth Leonard.  She will be dearly missed by her daughters Catherine Dolan; Margaret Webb; Anne "Nancy" Bullard; and her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Linda Dolan.  Her greatest legacy is her 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.  She took great delight in spending time with each and every one of them! One of her favorite pastimes was greeting friends and neighbors from her front porch on 89th Street, in Stone Harbor.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 1, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Rd, Greenville, DE, 19807.  Friends and family are invited to visitation after 9:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Kennett Square, PA.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, at the above address.  Online condolences may be made at MealyFuneralHomes.com.
