Elizabeth "Betsy" Donnelly Ullrich, age 84, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 15, 2024. Born in Trenton, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Gant) and Frank Donnelly. She graduated from Cathedral High School and later from the University of Delaware earning her bachelor's degree in Health and Human Services. Betsy was successful selling advertising for a local magazine and also a radio station, WNRK. However, her greatest passion was working with the elderly at Little Sisters of the Poor in Newark, where she started as the activities director and then moved into administration, writing beautiful social histories of the residents' lives. Betsy was a compassionate, thoughtful person who loved bringing joy to others. She enjoyed cooking family dinners and attending her grandchildren's sporting events, as well as trips to Ocean City, NJ and South Carolina. Betsy had a deep faith in her Catholic religion where she was a parishioner of St. John's-Holy Angels Parish in Newark.
In addition to her parents, Betsy was predeceased by her husband, John K. Ullrich. She is survived by her children, John Ullrich, Jim Ullrich, Marybeth Trulli (Steve), and Judy Sebastiani (Joe); her grandchildren, Karen, Ryan, and Michael Ullrich; Elisha, Elijah, Elizabeth, and Sam Trulli; and Olivia, John, and Samantha Sebastiani; Also, her great grandchildren, Anslee, Sullivan, Lyla, Scarlett and Anastasia.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, October 21 at 10 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Church, 200 E Main St, Newark, DE 19711. Burial will be held privately at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road Newark, DE 19713, St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105, or Boys Town, 14100 Crawford Street Boys Town, NE 68010.
