Elizabeth "Betty" D. Brotherton, age 98, of New Castle, DE, passed away on January 28, 2021. Born in Plains, PA, she was the daughter of the late Rebecca (Blaydon) and Samuel Darling. She was a bank teller for the Bank of Delaware, and was an accountant for the Stanton and Red Clay school districts. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Brotherton in 2004; and her brothers, Norman, Thomas, Walter, and Joseph Darling. Betty is survived by 3 sons, Raymond (Diana) of VA, Darryl of St. Petersburg, FL and Thomas (Diane Lutz) Brotherton with whom she lived, New Castle, DE; 6 grandsons, Erick, Clifford, Jeffrey, Barry, Christopher and Corey; 1 great grandson, Marek. Also, Thomas and Diane would like to give special thanks for Cloverlyn Kerr of Christiana Care Visiting Nurses. Also, the wonderful staff at Christiana Care and Seasons Hospice. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 after 10 AM. Services will begin at 11:15 AM. Burial will be held in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
