Age 88, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at Christiana Hospital on Monday, November 30, 2015 surrounded by her family.Born in Drums, PA, Betty was the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Arendas) Shandrick. Betty was a homemaker and made the best pierogies. She enjoyed crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, word find, anagrams, and playing cards. She enjoyed revisiting the family farm in Drums, PA, and reminiscing. As a member of St. Catherine of Siena for over 50 years, the parish was her extended family. She was an original member of Altar & Rosary, a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, and led the recitation of the Rosary before daily Mass for years. She was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" Ganc in 1973 and by her siblings, Dolores Zapotosky, Leo and Bernard Shandrick.Betty will be missed by her daughter, Irene M. Ganc of Wilmington; and her son and daughter-in-law, William "Bill" and Cyndie Ganc of Newark, DE. Granddaughters Christy, Caitlin and Chelsea were the sunshine of Betty's (Baba's) life. Also surviving were her brother and sister-in-law, John and Martha Shandrick of Deland, FL; and several nieces and nephews.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 3rd at 11 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2505 Centerville Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 where friends and family are invited to visitation after 10 AM.
