Eleanor Rose
Pirhalla
June 27, 1935 – September 28, 2025
Eleanor Rose (Neveroski) Pirhalla, age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025 in Newark, DE with family by her side.
She was born on June 27, 1935, in Scranton, PA. Eleanor attended North Scranton Jr. High School, Central High School, and Keystone College in Scranton. She also interned with the Medical Technology Program at Scranton State Hospital. In 1958, Eleanor married Joseph W. Pirhalla of Olyphant, PA and moved to Wilmington, DE where together they raised a family. She was selflessly devoted to raising her children for many years before she reentered the workforce and was employed by Professional Clinical Labs and then DuPont Stine-Haskell Labs.
Eleanor is survived by her children Ruth Ann (Jim), Nancy (Glenn), Janice (Rick), Eric (Jill), James, and Douglas (Vicky), as well as grandchildren Stephen, Calvin, Nathan, Jacob, Kathryn, Christian, Nicholas, Devin, Keira, Scott, and Amy, and 3 great-grandchildren. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Joe, and her parents, Edward and Anna Neveroski.
Eleanor enjoyed life to the fullest; she kept hers filled with family, friends, love, and laughter. A strong woman of faith, she attended Mass regularly and volunteered her time at Jesus House. Eleanor instilled a love of nature and being outdoors in her children and grandchildren. She spent countless hours tending to her beautiful gardens, taking long walks, and appreciating the lovely view of the river next to the home she shared with Joe in North Carolina. Eleanor enjoyed meeting and getting to know people. She lived in the same neighborhood in Wilmington for 60 years and had many cherished friendships there that played a very big part in her life. One of Eleanor's gifts was hosting fun-filled occasions for family and friends. She was known as a very generous and thoughtful giver. She could always be seen supporting her children and grandchildren at their sporting events and school activities. Eleanor knew how to show love in many wonderful ways.
On behalf of Eleanor's family, a special thank you to all of the staff at Millcroft Living for the kindness and loving care so freely given to our mother. Her family also extends gratitude to Compassionate Care Hospice for all of their comforting support.
