Elbert "Butch" Campbell, age 79, of Newark, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

Butch was born in Wilmington, son of the late Amy (Taylor) and Jessie James Campbell. He worked at General Motors for 37 years until his retirement. In retirement, Butch loved working at Bidermann Golf Course for 18 years.  He was an avid bowler and golfer, accomplishing multiple 300 games, 800 series and as a golfer, two holes in one.  He loved spending time with his family and friends and making memories at the beach in Millsboro, DE where he was a member of the Indian River Yacht Club.  Butch was known for giving $2 bills just to make people smile.

Butch is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Ann Campbell; daughter Dawn Hearn (Mark); son John Campbell (Joi); granddaughters Ashley and Maygan Campbell their mother Kathy Hawthorne; grandson Daniel McClay; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close family friends whom he loved.  In addition to his parents, Butch was predeceased by brother, Wayne Campbell; and sister, Hilda Reynard.

A visitation for Butch will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19808, where friends and family may call from 1-2pm, with a memorial service following at 2pm. Burial will be held privately.
