Edward F. Lewis, 92, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 8, 2025.

Edward was born in Wilmington to the late Delia McDonough and John D. Lewis.

He graduated from Salesianum School in 1951, attended the University of Delaware and served his country as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.  Ed worked as a chemical technologist for the Hercules Company for 40 years.  He was a former golfer and a member of The Hercules Country Club.

Ed was also an avid runner and in years past was a member of the Pike Creek Valley Running club where he competed in many events and marathons.  He was a member of the Mid-County Senior Center where he enjoyed playing pool and pinochle with his friends.  His greatest joy was attending his grandchildren's sporting events, and he was particularly excited about attending their swim meets and cheering them on.

Ed was predeceased by his wife, Mary M. Lewis in 2008 and his brother John "Jack" Lewis.

Ed will be dearly missed by his sister, Mary Jernoske; his daughters and their husbands, Mary and John Caron, Karen and Scott Smathers, Lisa and Bobby Corrado, Susan and Michael Samson and Cindy and Jim Morris; his grandchildren, Caitlyn Lehman, Eric Caron, Claire Anderson, Hanna Caron, Donny Greer, Michael Smathers, Emily Smathers, Edward Smathers, Jack Smathers, Leah Corrado, Delia Rondinaro, Andres Samson, Dolores Samson, Sabina Samson, Casey Morris, Jimmy Morris, Jack Morris, and Timothy Morris.  Additionally, he will be greatly missed by his many wonderful great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday December 22nd from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Mary's Kountry Kitchen, 222 Main St, Wilmington, DE 19804.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to either the Mid-County Senior Center, First Regiment Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808 or Salesianum School, 1801 N. Broom Street, Wilmington, DE 19802.
