Obituary

On December 21, 2020, Edward L. Jackson, III was taken by Covid-19 from his loving family. Ed succumbed to the disease while residing in a skilled nursing facility. Edward was born on February 10, 1930 in Wilmington, the son of the late Helen (Gulcynski) and Edward Jackson, Jr. He retired from the DuPont Experimental Station, JP Morgan and WSFS Bank. While living in Millsboro, Ed was a member of Mary, Mother of Peace Church, where he served as a Eucharist Minister and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Ed enjoyed shooting pool and he bowled for many years in various leagues. He was known for his beautiful counted cross stitch work and was awarded "Best in Show" at the Millsboro Art League. He is standing next to his work in the obituary photo. Ed was kind and generous to everyone he met and always a gentleman. He did have his own unique brand of humor, which his wife never understood. Ed was predeceased by his parents, his sister Josephine Lewandowski, his brother, Joseph Jackson and his bonus son, Bud Shoemaker. Ed is survived by his wife of 37 years, Helen (Sill) Jackson; his sons, Edward and Bruce (Bonnie): his bonus son, Richard Shoemaker; his grandchildren, Breydon and Samantha; his great-grandson, Jayden; his sisters, Joan Krakowski (John) and Peggy Naughton; his sister-in-law, Chris Jackson along with many nieces, nephews and friends of the Jackson, Sill and Shoemaker families. The family thanks the staff at Churchman's Village for taking care of Ed during these trying times. Remember Ed by going to McDonalds and ordering a fish filet sandwich, it was his favorite!
