Edith Ina English, age 85, of Newark, DE, passed away on August 18, 2024.

Edith was born on November 10, 1938 in Donaldson, PA, in the heart of the anthracite coal mining region to Winnifred E. (Gulliver) and Franklin T. English. She graduated from John Bassett Moore High School in Smyrna, Delaware. Edie retired after 31 years working for the Air Force at Dover Air Force Base, DE, and JC Penney in Dover, Delaware, after 17 years. She held many part-time jobs throughout the years, most recently at St. Mary of the Assumption in Hockessin, DE. Edie volunteered at Christiana Care in Newark, DE. She was an enthusiastic Anglo-Saxon who loved everything British. Additionally, she loved to read.

In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her two brothers, Lamont W. and Robert E. English. She is survived by her two sons, Newell B. Everett, III and John Bialecki and his wife, Colleen (Graney); six grandchildren, W. Jason Hill, Dustin N. Everett, Jake, Lauren, Seth, and Corinna Bialecki; and one great-grandson, Michael Hill.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 from 11:00AM to 12:00PM, followed by a memorial service at 12:00PM. Burial will be private.
