Age 91, of Wilmington, DE. Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 19, 2016 in Seasons Hospice in Christiana Hospital.Born in Altoona, PA she was the daughter to the late Mae (Shafer) and John Ronan. Dorothy was preceased by her husband William C. McCord in 1988. She loved going out to lunch (anywhere), horses, her 3 cats (Lola, Sparky, and Callie), and watching figure skating. Dorothy was an avid bowler into her eighties.Dorothy is survived by her daughter Maureen McCord and her son William "Bill" McCord both of Wilmington. She is survived by 3 sisters Marian Smithmyer, Helen Behe and her husband Joseph and Elizabeth Schimminger and a brother-in-law Paul Bottenfield. Also surviving are 5 step grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceased by 2 sisters; Rita Raichle and Mary Bottenfield and 4 brothers Vernon, John, William and Michael Ronan.A visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 6pm to 8 pm in the MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 and in St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 10 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am.
