Dorothy Catherine Matoni, 88, of Bear, DE. passed away peacefully in her home on August 16, 2024 surrounded by the love of her family. Born on December 16th, 1935 to Anthony and Emelia Gliniak, she grew up with her many brothers and sisters, living in Browntown, Wilmington, DE.

On November 1st, 1953 she married her husband, Richard F. Matoni Sr., and they went on together to raise their five children. After her children were grown, she became a school bus driver for 35 years until her retirement. She was proud of her 35 years of service. To her school bus children, she was Ms. Dot, to her children, she was Mom, and to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was Mom-Mom.

Dorothy was predeceased in August of 1992 by her husband Richard after 39 years of marriage, and by her two sons-in-law, Timothy Kolodi and Robert Palmer. She was also predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters, Baby Frank, Tony, Henry, Joe, Edward, Richard, Loretta and Cecilia. Dorothy is survived by her five children, Karen Kolodi of Newark, Debra Capasso (Frank) of Wilmington, Marlene Palmer of Wilmington, Richard F. Matoni Jr. of Middletown, and Dorene Ciamaricone (James) of Middletown; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Mealey Funeral Homes, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808 from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. with funeral services beginning at 11 A.M. on Thursday August 22nd, 2024. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Forgotten Cats,Ste. 4023 Kennett Pike Greenville, DE. 19807
