Dorothy Mae Kirkpatrick passed away on January 21st 2020, only hours prior to her 100th birthday, surrounded by her family at Regal Heights Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Yorklyn, DE, she was the daughter of the late Edith (Walmsley) and Lewis N. Gebhart. Dorothy worked as a cafeteria manager for State of Delaware for over 30 years until her retirement. She absolutely loved dogs and even got the chance to meet "Duke", the Bush's Baked Beans dog. Dorothy enjoyed spending time and traveling with her family, was a huge Phillies and Redskins fan, and loved bingo, puzzles, and getting together with her ladies' lunch group every so often. She was a member of First and Central Presbyterian Church for 73 years. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, George M., and her son, Terry L. Kirkpatrick. Dorothy is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lynn Kirkpatrick; her granddaughters and their spouses, Tracey and Michael Walls and Dawn and Robert Rhoades; her grandchildren, Lorin Huerta and her spouse, Daniel, James Walls, and Tyler Walls; and her 4 grand dogs. A visitation will be held on Tuesday January 28th from 11:30 to 12:30 P.M. with funeral services beginning at 12:30 P.M. at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will be held privately.
