Dorothy “Dot” C. Connor

Dorothy “Dot” C. Connor, age 83, of Newark, DE passed away surrounded by her loving family on October 2, 2026. Born in Wilmington, she was the daughter of the late Florence (Rutter) and George Dick. She graduated from St. Ann’s Catholic School and attended Wilmington High School. Dot married her husband of 66 years, Lawrence “Reds” Connor, Sr. on July 2, 1960. She was a dedicated homemaker for her husband and children. She will be remembered as an incredibly talented cook, baker and gift wrapper (those bows!). Dot had a special talent for making every occasion meaningful and memorable for her family and friends. She had a way of making every holiday feel magical, putting love and thought into each detail, from beautifully wrapped presents to the traditions that brought everyone together. Her porch, pool and living room became cherished gathering places for holiday celebrations, filled with laughter, love, and the irresistible aroma of her famous cookies, peanut butter balls, and fudge. No gathering was complete without her very, very sweet iced tea and lemonade. These simple but treasured traditions reflected Dot’s generous heart and the joy she found in bringing the people she loved together. The memories made at her home will forever be treasured by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Dot was predeceased by all six of her siblings. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence “Reds” Connor, Sr.; her children, Carol Rapone (Robert Rapone), Lawrence “Larry” Connor Jr. (Lisa Connor) and Theresa Connor (Brian Abbott); her grandchildren, Nick Rapone (Courtney Rapone), Caitlin Battles (Casey Battles) and Brad Connor (Donnie Dowen); her great grandchildren, Harper, River, Peyton and Ava.

A visitation will be held on Saturday October 10th from 3:30 P.M. to 4 P.M. with funeral services to begin at 4 P.M. at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will be held privately at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in Dot’s memory.
