Dora Anne (Walsh) Carr, 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 18, 2022 in the presence of loving family members.
The daughter of Joseph Patrick and Mary Bolton Walsh, Dora was a lifelong resident of Delaware. Dora was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Charles T. Carr Jr. Dora was also predeceased by her children, Charles Carr III, Michael Carr, and Barbara Plummer. She is survived by her sons, Patrick Joseph Carr, his wife, Lisa Kopish-Carr, and their children, Allison, Molly and Luke; Dennis Carr and his daughter, Mary; Michael's wife, Kim (Renshaw) Carr and their children, Caitlyn Carr Sterling, Collin, and his wife, Christina; Barbara's husband Jim Plummer and their children, Meghan Quinn and her husband, Rory, Justin and Maura; Charles III's wife, Susan Taylor and their children, Claire and Casey; and her six great-grandchildren.
Dora is also survived by her sister, Pat Walls and her husband Tom, who were with her in her final moments, her sisters-in-law, Madeline Walsh and Mary Anne Walsh and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Theresa Taylor, and brothers, Joseph, Jim and Pete. Dora was very proud to be a Walsh and took great pride in the achievements of her siblings and their children. The Carr family is thankful to Dora's niece and nephews of the Taylor family and their spouses, all of whom faithfully supported Dora, especially in her later years.
Dora and Charlie raised their family in St Ann's Parish in Wilmington. Dora graduated from St. Peter's High School in New Castle, St. Francis Nursing School and Wilmington College. She worked as a school nurse at Howard Career Center for many years and was always thrilled to meet her former students while out and about in Wilmington. They would typically greet her as "Nurse Carr" which always brightened her day and put a smile on her face. Dora also enjoyed her time in Lewes, Delaware and her never-ending search for antiques.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning October 25th at 10 AM at St. Ann's Church, 2013 Gilpin Ave, Wilmington, DE 19806. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Beat the Beast Foundation, a cancer research and support charity at Beat the Beast, c/o Caitlyn Carr Sterling, 702 Greylag Rd. Middletown, DE 19709.
