A beautiful life has come to an end. Donna Reno Oat, 63, was granted her angel wings on Wednesday July 22, 2015 after one of the most courageous battles fought against lung cancer. Donna's final days were spent surrounded by her loving family. Donna will always be remembered as a bright shining light of hope and fierce courage. She reminded us just how precious the gift of life is and we are all the better for knowing her. She was a graduate of St. Hedwig's High School and office manager for Wilmington Real Estate Company.Donna was a native Delawarean who shared her time between homes in Newport & Rehoboth Beach. Donna was born on February 19th to Agnes Sinex Reno & the late Robert F Reno in Wilmington. In addition to her mother, Donna is survived by her husband of 43 years Robert E Oat, her loving daughter Carrie Oat Simmons, "son" Mike Simmons and her grandson Colin who was the light of her life. She is also survived by her sister and confidant Denise Reno Fioravaniti, "brother" Frank Fioravaniti, "sister" Ellen Oat Robinson. Her nieces Jennifer, Jocelyn, Monika & Lauren, nephews Frankie, Ross, Alan, Michael, Mikey, Anthony, Kyle and Nathan who all adored their Aunt Donna.We would like express a special thank you to the doctors and staff at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Dr. Tracey Evans, and Compassionate Care Hospice. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 28th at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington. Visitation will be 11 AM to 12 noon. The funeral service will begin at noon.
