Dan J. Caputo, Sr., passed away peacefully Monday, November 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 97.

Born in Wilmington, Dan was the son of the late Rose (Addesi) and Canio Caputo. A graduate of Brown Vocational High School, Dan worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, before going on to serve honorably in the United States Army where he graduated with Honors from the Army Ordnance School. He later received his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the Wharton School of Business launching him into a respected career in public accounting. Dan worked alongside his late wife Patty, to form Patricia Caputo Accounting Firm, which later evolved into "Dan J. Caputo, CPA," a partnership with his son.

Dan had a passion for Billiards, dedicating much of his free time to local teams and leagues, achieving several competitive titles along the way. When not playing billiards, Dan remained active through fitness clubs and enjoyed occasional trips to the casino. Above all though, his greatest joy was spending time with his family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 48 years, Patricia Caputo, and his three sons, Danny Jr., David, and Robert "Bobby" Caputo. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Pasquale, Francis, Joseph, and Vincent Caputo.

His memory will live on through his grandchildren and their spouses, Michael (Tracy), Robb (Amanda), Stephanie (Jamin), David (Vanessa), Jeffrey (Tara), Laura, and Aidan; his brothers, Bruno and Anthony (Ann) Caputo; his daughters-in-law, Suzanne and Cheri Caputo; as well as many loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A viewing will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Rd, Wilmington, DE 19809, with funeral services immediately following at 12:00 PM. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
