Age 81, of Wilmington, DE. Passed away peacefully at Seasons Hospice in Christiana Hospital on Thursday, March 26, 2015.Don was born in Wilmington to the late Marie (Gallagher) and Edgar Johnson. A graduate of Salesianum School, Don was All State Basketball and captain for Sallies basketball team. After serving in the United States Army, Donald worked as a Laboratory Supervisor at DuPont until his retirement. Don's love for singing began as a child and his career included The DuPont Choir, St. Mary's Minstrels, and his group "Three's Company" sang at Constantino's, The Hunter's Den and the Debraak in Lewes, DE.Donald is survived by his wife Shirley; three children, Mark G. Johnson of Wilmington, DE, Judy G. Johnson of Wilmington, DE and David G. Johnson and his wife Michele of The Woodlands, TX; three grandchildren, Robert C.J. Caputo, Matthew and Taylor Johnson; one great grandson James Caputo and a great granddaughter Logan Marie Johnson. Also surviving are his sister Alice Crowley and brother Robert Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by one brother Edgar Eugene Johnson, Jr.Funeral service will be held at MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 0n Wednesday, April 1, 20015 at 7 pm where family will receive friends after 6 pm.
