Donald (Donnie) L. Sweetman, of Wilmington, DE, passed away at his residence on Saturday, October 28, 2022. He was employed by Laurel Valley and was a heavy equipment operator for more than fifty years.

He was musically gifted, but to humble to share his God given talent with the world, and recorded songs in Nashville, Tennessee in 1973. Donnie had his own band in his younger years. He did Hank Willliams, Jr. impersonations, which he was very good at since he looked so much like him and was often mistaken for him. Even at Dunkin' Donuts getting his coffee, people would ask if he was Hank and then request a picture with him. Donnie was often called "Hank" by his friends and coworkers. He and Hank became friends and had some good times together. Donnie also played music with many other stars like Sally Star and Roy Roger, just to name a few.

His other interests were restoring antique John Deere tractors. Donnie's fondest memories were of his beloved grandfather John Sweetman, while working in the fields together, and his grandmother's cooking.

He will be greatly missed by those closest to him.

Donnie is predeceased by his beloved grandparents, John and Francis Sweetman; and his parents, Harry and Doris Sweetman.

Donnie is survived by longtime friend and companion, Sharon Tobias; his "little buddy Peanut" the chihuahua; his brothers, Dave and Gary Sweetman; cousin, Jody Sweetman and other cousins; nephew, Matt Sweetman; and two daughters.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery, 525 Polly Drummond Hill Rd, Newark, DE 19711.
