Diane DeJong, age 77, of Newark DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2024 after an extended illness.

Born in Sherman Station (Stacyville) Maine she was the third of the six children of Leslie & Avis Robinson.  Diane attended the same three-room grammar school as her father and graduated from Kents Hill Prep School and University of Maine, Orono with a degree in Psychology in 1969.

After graduating from college, she moved to Delaware where her aunt lived.  This is where she met her future husband.  She had a career with ICI Pharmaceuticals where she was manager of a data computing department.

Diane and Edward enjoyed their cottage on Shin Pond in Mt. Chase, Maine.  Their cottage was adjacent to her parents' cottage where she had spent every summer as a child and teen.  Many were the memories throughout their lives of good times spent "at the camp."  Diane played the piano as a hobby and especially enjoyed gardening.

Diane was predeceased by her parents and three siblings; brothers Gary and Mark; sister Suzanne, her very best friend; dear nephew, Jared Wade; and cousin, Wayne Shimp.

Diane is survived by her loving husband Edward whom she celebrated 45 years of marriage.  Two brothers, Craig of Stacyville and Michael (Carol) of Port Charlotte, FL.  Brother-in-law Michael Wade; nephews Aaron (Katie) Wade; Brian (Lisa) Robinson; niece Ann (William) Andrews; aunt Marilyn Shimp; and cousins Jane (Steve) Straw, Paul (Kim), Carl (Rosalyn) and Alan (Marty) Shimp.  Along with brother-in-law; Adrian (Karen) DeJong; two sister-in-laws, Joanne (Samuel) DeJong-Cattlett and Terry (Mark) Lynch.

Diane will be remembered as a very resolute woman who was never shy about expressing her views and thoughts.  Very much the "Captain of her Soul" her whole life.
