Obituary

David C. Senghaas, age 60, of Garnet Valley, PA, passed away on May 23rd, 2025.

David was born in Wilmington, DE, the youngest son of the late Frances "Dolly" (Carroccia) and J. Paul Senghaas, Sr. He graduated from Wilmington High School and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force. Following his time in the military, David worked for several years as an officer in the Wilmington Police Department before making a career change and pursuing a degree in nursing. He graduated with his degree in nursing from the University of Delaware and went on to work as a transplant nurse at University of Pennsylvania, as well as serving as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital, and most recently the Veterans Medical Center in Elsmere. Dave was proud to be a nurse for the past 20 years.

David loved the Delaware beaches, recently purchasing a beach house to enjoy with his wife and children in Rehoboth. He was a gun enthusiast, enjoyed fishing, but most importantly, loved spending time with his family. He loved his outings with his son, Eli, and his brother, John, regularly taking them to the movies and baseball games. David was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

David is predeceased by his parents, Frances "Dolly" and J. Paul Senghaas, Sr.; his sister, Carol Senghaas; and his brother-in-law, Stephen Smith.

David is survived by his wife, Cynthia Senghaas; his son, Elijah David Senghaas; his stepchildren, Amir and Rania Hajri; his siblings, J. Paul Senghaas, Jr (Stephanie), Johanna Smith, Dori Logullo (Bob), and John Senghaas; his mother and father-in-law, Nancy Brewer and Robert Cowl; and his sister-in-law, Debra Cowl; and his niece, Dana Macy.

A visitation will be held at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE on Saturday May 31st from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. with funeral services beginning at 1 P.M. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The Headstrong Project or the Brandywine Valley SPCA.
