Obituary

On Wednesday, May 27th, David Meers, loving husband and father of 2 children, died at the age of 70 in Christiana Hospital in Delaware. Dave was born in 1950 in Chattanooga, TN to Steve and Mildred Meers. He received his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Management from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, and his Master's Degree in Management Science from Baldwin Wallace College in Ohio. He worked for the DuPont Company for 37 years. He was first married to Sandi Meers Hershey, and they raised two sons, Dan of Bellingham, WA and Ryan of West Chester, PA. Dave had a passion for building and repairing things. He did most of the work designing and building three houses during his lifetime. His last project was a log home of which he was immensely proud. His friends would say that he loved the process of creating things and solving problems. When relatives, friends, and neighbors needed help with a project, Dave was often the person to whom they went for advice. In 2009 Dave married Susan Barnes with whom he had a very special relationship until he died. He and Susan loved animals and spent much time feeding the local wildlife near their home in Landenberg, PA. Their labradoodle, Leena, was a loving companion throughout his recent years. Dave was preceded in death by his father, Steve, and his mother, Mildred. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his two children, Dan (Laura) and Ryan (Christine); six grandchildren; his brother, Ron (Karen); and several cousins. Due to current assembly limitations caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, a memorial service will occur later. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave. Ste 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266, www.pancan.
