David C. Hennings, age 57, of Newark, DE, passed away on May 30, 2026. Born in Wilmington, he was the son of the late Mary Ellen "Maureen" (Cunnie) Hennings and Charles "Chuck" L. Hennings.

David graduated from Salesianum School with the Class of 1987, where he was a dedicated member of the football team. He served as the starting defensive end during Salesianum's 1987 championship season. He continued his education at the University of Delaware, earning his degree in 1992. David spent much of his professional life working in insurance sales before stepping away from his career to care for his elderly parents.

A passionate Philadelphia sports fan, David especially enjoyed following the Philadelphia Phillies and cheering on Notre Dame football. He found great peace in nature and often spent time exploring the gardens at Winterthur and the trails of White Clay Creek State Park. An enthusiastic golfer, David enjoyed traveling to some of the country's most memorable golf destinations, including Hawaii, Myrtle Beach, Florida, and the West Coast. His love of the game also led him to volunteer at several PGA Championships in recent years.

David is survived by his brothers and their spouses, Mark and Cathy Hennings and Bryan and Jetta Hennings; his niece and nephew, Caitlyn (Jon) and Garrett (Ashley); his great-nieces, Paisleigh and Scarlett; his cherished aunt and uncle, Gerard and Evelyn Jennings, who held a special place in his life; several other aunts; and many cousins.
