David W. Earhart, 82, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at home on February 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 5, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late Corrine Rhoda Earhart and Elwood Lock Earhart. Dave dedicated over three decades of his life to Conrail, beginning his career in 1963. He retired in 1996 in Philadelphia, PA, after a long and fulfilling career.

Dave was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He was proud of his family, and his best memories were spent with them. For many years, Dave's favorite pastime was watching his daughters play volleyball and traveling to support their teams. "Poppy," as he was known by many, was an avid Bengals fan. He liked the Eagles, but his heart was with the Bengals.

Dave was predeceased by his wife, Arleen Earhart, on March 1st, 2000, and his daughter, Michelle Lynn, on August 5th 1980. Poppy is survived by his two daughters, Julie Earhart Sharrar (Chet Sharrar) and Jennifer Earhart, both from Newark, and his four grandchildren, Ryan Sharrar, Matthew Sharrar, Tyler Earhart-Wright, and Brooklyn Earhart.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday March 4th at 10 A.M. at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808 with funeral services beginning at 11 A.M. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
