David Carilli

David Carilli, age 70, of New Castle, DE passed away on August 23, 2026.

Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Joan (Wardell) and Ernest Carilli. He graduated from Delcastle High School as a member of the class of 1974. He spent his career working for General Motors until its closure and then went on to trade school to pursue his electrician’s license. He worked for several contractors until his retirement two years ago. David was an avid gardener, wood worker, and fan of University of Delaware Football and Nascar Racing. He especially enjoyed making wood toys for his great niece and nephew.

In addition to his parents, David is predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Carilli; and brother, James Carilli. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and John O’Connor; brother, E. John Carilli; his nieces and nephews, Kelli Freebery (Dave), Sarah Stracke (Dylan) and Patrick O’Connor, as well as a great niece and nephew.

A visitation will be held at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 901 E. Newport Pike Wilmington, DE 19804 on Tuesday September 1st at 10 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Helen Graham Center.
