Corinne "Connie" Lee
Debonis
November 16, 1934 – September 22, 2025
Corinne Lee DeBonis "Connie", age 90, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2025. Connie, as she preferred to be called, grew up in West Grove and was the daughter of the late Marietta (Hammond) and Denver Franklin. During her time in West Grove, she met her husband, Robert V. DeBonis "Bob", in 5th grade; she always said it was love at first sight. They eventually settled down in Wilmington, Delaware. Connie spent time working for Bell Atlantic and Christiana Hospital.
Connie loved reminiscing about the past over a cup of coffee with a donut, piece of rye toast, or slice of coconut custard pie. She always made sure she had something sweet in the house to go with her coffee. As long as she could, she kept the tradition that she had with her mother of getting their hair done once a week. She loved going out to breakfast or dinner, where she would almost always order pancakes with crisp bacon or cheese ravioli. Connie loved visiting the Dunkin Donuts on Kirkwood Highway for her medium hot coffee with cream and a jelly donut. She enjoyed going to St. John's carnival every year for their fish dinners and play the cake wheel.
In addition to her parents, Corinne is predeceased by her husband, Robert, along with her son, Mark. She is survived by her son, Robert DeBonis (Sharon); daughter-in-law, Julia DeBonis; loving grandchildren, Rebecca Brown (Matt), Alicia DeBonis, Robyn DeBonis (Evan), and Jessica DeBonis-Stenner (Mike); great-grandchildren, Colin Brown, Gabriella Brown, Cayden Stenner, and Arthur Stenner.
