Corey James Pote, of Bear, DE, passed away on January 2, 2023, at his home. Corey was born on October 30, 1958, in Philadelphia, PA, and made his childhood home in the Carney's Point/Penns Grove, NJ area. He played baseball at Penns Grove High School before graduating in 1977, and continued his studies at Juniata College, Huntingdon, PA, where he graduated in 1983 with a B.S. degree in Accounting.

Corey's professional career included employment in the accounting departments at Everfast, Inc. and NVF in Kennett Square, PA and concluded with his position as a payroll supervisor at Fox Rothschild, LLC, in Philadelphia.

Corey was active throughout his life where he made several life-long friends during his years playing organized softball in the New Castle area. In his retirement, Corey pursued his various passions, such as playing golf, traveling with family, and rooting for his Phillies and Eagles! He also loved decorating his house for the holidays, and many area residents enjoyed his Christmas decorations each season.

Corey met the love of his life, Jean Hartsky, while at Everfast and they were married in 1992. In addition to Jean, he is survived by his brother, Frank (Gwen) and family of Stafford, VA, and Jean's nine siblings and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank, Jr and Lucille Pote and his older brother, Hal.

Arrangements are being handled by Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Friends may call at the funeral home on January 19th beginning at 1 PM, with a service following. Inurnment will be private at a later date.
